De Bos
Proteas
Bosman Hermanus is situated in the pristine Hemel-en-Aarde Valley where the indigenous, species-rich ‘fynbos’ biome thrives. With its focus on sustainability, 180 ha of this farm is under conservation management, but there are another 28 ha under commercial cultivation of several of these indigenous flowers, mostly protea, pincushion and Leucadendron species.
Every year an additional 2-3 hectares are planted with the aim of increasing total production to 35 hectares in the next few years.

Currently the species in production are:
Protea:
Cynaroides: King and White King Proteas
Medium-sized proteas: Sharonettes, Sylvia, Brenda and Carnival
Pincushion:
Ayoba Yellow and Ayoba Gold
Leucadendrons:
Safari Sunset, Cherry Pearl, Blush Pearl and Silver Pearl
The fresh flowers are predominantly delivered to agents who distribute them across the globe, while a portion is held back for distribution locally to florists, restaurants, guest houses and private clients.
We’ve just installed a little wooden hut near the entrance to the Frame House from where we will be selling freshly picked flowers from the farm.
