Halved jalapeño pepper filled with goats cheese, num‐num berry jam & micro leaves, paired with Bosman Adama Red blend 2017 • Bruschetta with chorizo, buchu syrup, tricolore and charred rosemary, paired with our UHA Pinot noir 2016 • Smoked butternut soup with a hint of orange, cinnamon & nutmeg served with crisped chillies and charcoal melba paired with Upper Hemel‐en‐Aarde Chardonnay 2016.

Here at the Frame House we pair our wines with dishes representing these four elements in line with the four seasons. Our food is honest, a true reflection of where we find ourselves without unnecessary
enhancement or amplification:

• Wind – Hermanus is renowned for its “Champagne Air”. Early in the last century, British doctors would prescribe a holiday in Hermanus for the curative properties of the fresh, sea air which in turn has a moderating influence over the vineyards in summer.
• Sea – We are surrounded by water: both the nearby dams and the ocean below us are teaming with fish and shellfish. The cooling sea breezes allow for slower ripening and therefore richer, more complex grape flavours.
• Earth – Our ‘fynbos’ is indigenous and unique to this corner of the world because of our location at the southern tip of Africa, and because of our unique soils. These soils lend a signature minerality to the grapes, yet play host to a wide variety of rare plants, some of which are edible.
• Fire – is a necessity for fynbos to reproduce. The seeds of the famous protea will only germinate by fire, a tell‐tale sign of our harsh but unique climate where summers are hot and dry, and winters cold and wet.
