Well-known Cape mountaineer Tim Lundy offers a range of hikes through the picturesque Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The De Bos trail, which is 7km long and takes about 4.5 hours traverses the Bosman Hermanus farm, cutting through vineyards and fields of indigenous fynbos, up gentle ‘koppies’ and offering breath-taking views over fields of proteas.

Legendary local botanist Frank Woodvine has spent the last few years eradicating alien vegetation and encouraging the sensitive indigenous vegetation to restore itself.

Perhaps the highlight of the hike is the splendid panorama at the viewing deck on top of the range of mountains. Hikers are rewarded with views of the whole of Walker Bay with Gansbaai to the east and Hangklip to the west.

The trails ends back at the Frame House, where a light meal and wine tasting awaits.
